Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
Anything you type into a search box on this site passes straight through to the outside provider that runs that tool. They handle the query and return the results. We do not keep or log the names, dates of birth, or other terms you enter.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email us, we retain the message so we can write back. It stays with our team. We will not pass it to anyone outside our organization unless a legal obligation requires us to.
Data We Gather Automatically
Each time a page loads, our servers record a handful of technical details about the visit:
- The IP address your device is using
- Your browser and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you opened and how long each one stayed on screen
- The referring site, when one sent you here
- A timestamp for every page view
Cookies and Analytics
This site uses cookies, which are small files placed on your device. They show us which pages draw traffic and where visitors tend to leave. Analytics services help us roll that data into traffic totals. You can block cookies through your browser at any time, though some parts of the site may then behave differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site online and loading at a reasonable speed
- Routing your search requests to the correct partner service
- Learning which pages readers find useful and which need work
- Finding and repairing technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may reflect your interests
No Warrant Data on File
This site does not host, compile, maintain, or sell warrant databases or personal warrant records. We publish general guidance about where St. Louis County warrant information is held and how to check it through the sheriff's generated lists, Minnesota Court Records Online, and the Sixth Judicial District courthouse that heard the case.
We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and nothing we gather about visitors is assembled into consumer reports or into profiles of other people. The same limit applies to the search boxes described below.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes you see on this site. Whatever you enter into one of those tools is handled under that company's privacy policy rather than this one, and their retention and sharing rules apply. We have no control over them, so read their policy before you submit a query.
Links to Other Websites
We link out to sheriff's office pages, court portals, state statute references, and other public resources. Following any of those links takes you away from this site, and the destination's own privacy policy then governs what happens next. Read it before you share personal details anywhere.
Advertising partners may also track activity across sites to target ads. That tracking happens on their systems rather than ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Some information may still reach the following:
- Search partners that process queries you run here
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Ad networks that serve advertising on our pages
- Law enforcement or government agencies when a valid legal order compels disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
We apply standard security practices to the information we hold. No internet service can promise perfect safety, however. We take reasonable steps to protect what we collect, and we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent us data, contact us and we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Where you live can shape what you may ask of a website like this one. Minnesota's open-records framework, the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, governs how state and local agencies handle the data they hold; it does not govern a private site such as this one. Regardless of where you live, you can ask us to:
- Provide a copy of whatever we hold about you
- Correct information that is inaccurate
- Delete your data
- Stop certain kinds of processing
